Rivers move mountains.
Let them both move you.

Hike to Heal. Heal to Live.

The Mountain.

“Climb the mountains and get their good tidings. Nature’s peace will flow into you as sunshine into trees.” — John Muir

Our multi-day treks lead you mile after mile atop the Kittatinny Mountain Ridge along the Appalachain Trail through groves of cedar, oak, blueberry, and rhododendron. We will visit small ponds and streams and the tallest waterfall in the Garden State.

The River.

Life is a flowing river. The river brings both nourishment and destruction. It is both beautiful and terrible. It is constant and ever-changing.

Over time, the river moves mountains and leaves new flood plains fertile for growth. We can learn to be powerful and gentle like the river. We can learn to face our traumas, to learn from pain and then let it flow away, leaving behind fertile soil for new beginings. The river can teach us how to do this.

Our multi-day treks take you from the Appalachian Trail, down the mountain to a beautiful trout stream where we continue by canoe out to the Wild and Scenic Delaware River—floating a total of XXXX Miles back south to the Delware Water Gap.

The Journey.

“I only went out for a walk, and finally concluded to stay out till sundown, for going out, I found, was really going in.” — John Muir.

Healing comes from within. We cannot bury our suffering, our fear, our pain, our trauma—we must look it in the face, acknowledge it, and allow it to pass on into our history, carried away by the river of time. We can learn how to do this, and nature can teach us how.

Nature is healing

We come from the earth and to the earth we shall return. We are born of water and light and moved to life by the spirit of creation. Healing comes from within, and so to heal we must connect with our true self. Connecting to nature is one of the easiest ways to connect to ourselves, and when we spend time in nature, this connection begins to happen naturally.

Spend time outside

Take a walk to the mail box or the corner store. Notice nature everywhere. Plants growing in the crack of the sidewalk, birds nesting in the corner of a roof overhang, life is everywhere and you are part of it. Life always finds a way, and in that strength and resilience is great beauty. All of this—strength, resilience, beauty—is within you. Spend time getting to know the natural world around you and you’ll begin to know yourself—the self that already has all the tools to heal and live a happier, healthier, more fulfilling life. Go out, to go in.
